Kitchen Renovation Cost Guide

How much does a kitchen renovation cost in Auckland?

Most Auckland kitchen renovations fall between $35,000 and $80,000. Where yours lands depends on the size of your kitchen, the materials you choose, and the scope of work involved.

This guide gives you honest numbers, explains what drives the cost up or down, and helps you know what to expect before you talk to anyone.

What shapes the price

Every kitchen is different. So is every renovation budget.

No two kitchens cost the same, and any company that quotes without seeing your space is guessing.

The main factors that shape your final price are the size of your kitchen, the cabinetry and benchtop materials you choose, whether any plumbing or structural changes are needed, and the level of finish you are after.

Understanding these levers early helps you make smarter decisions and avoid budget surprises mid-project.

A kitchen renovation is one of the highest-return investments you can make in your home.

Done well, a new kitchen adds real value to your property, improves daily life, and lasts for decades. Done poorly, it costs twice.

Elite

From $55,000

Fully custom cabinetry, premium or natural stone benchtop, integrated appliances, lighting design, premium hardware, and full design service from concept to completion. For homeowners who want the best result with no compromises.

Cost factors

What drives the price up or down.

Once you understand these three levers, you can make smarter trade-offs and get the most from your renovation budget.

Cabinetry & Benchtop

Cabinetry and benchtops make up the largest share of your renovation cost. The difference between a laminate benchtop and engineered stone, or standard doors versus custom profiles, can shift the budget by $8,000 to $15,000 on its own.

Kitchen Size & Scope

A small galley kitchen and a large open-plan kitchen are entirely different projects. The more cabinetry, benchtop length, splashback area, and flooring involved, the higher the cost. Scope also includes how many trades need to be coordinated.

Structural & Trade Changes

Moving plumbing, relocating the sink, removing a wall, or upgrading electrical capacity all add to the budget. These changes are sometimes worth it for a better layout, but they need to be scoped clearly before work begins.
